There are plenty of weapons at your disposal: shoot with the howitzer, shred plastic with the twin .50 caliber machine gun, or silently stab the enemy with your sharp bayonet. This game focuses solely on the combat in the Plastic World, and most of the missions are based on World War II, some fans consider the World War games as prequels to the main games (Army Men, Army Men II and Toys in Space).
It was released for the PlayStation on September 20, 2000. The PlayStation version is a third-person shooter similar to Army Men 3D with a heavy emphasis on fast-paced combat and critical thinking, unlike Sarge's Heroes, the player can use vehicles during the campaign and has a grittier and more realistic tone than many of the Army Men Games.
