What is Ubtan?
Ubtan is an ayurvedic face pack made from herbs and minerals that contribute to fresher skin. The mixture has a vibrant fragrance, primarily spicy and nutty; and works like a charm for all skin types.
Within Ayurveda itself, there are several different recipes for preparing Ubtan. However, a few ingredients are common to all the recipes. These include:

Combine 1 teaspoon charcoal powder, 1 teaspoon bentonite clay, a pinch of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of coconut oil in a bowl. Let the consistency be on the thicker side. Apply this mask on your face with a clean brush and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse your face and apply moisturiser. Apply this mask at least once a week to get the desired results.
Combine 2 tablespoons of activated charcoal, 2 tablespoons of liquid soap, 1 tablespoon of almond oil, 2 tablespoons of white rice flour, 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Mix everything together to form a smooth and creamy paste. Massage your face with the paste gently for a minute and leave on for another 10 minutes. Wash with cool water and pat dry.
Combine 1-2 tablespoons of activated charcoal powder with 1 egg white and 1/4 teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix well to create a fluffy mixture and apply all over your face. Leave for 10 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.
Before applying the mask, wash your face with a mild cleanser to get rid of any surface pollutants and sweat.
Apply an even layer of the mask, leaving out your eye area and lips. Make sure to keep the application pressure gentle in order to avoid pulling on your skin.
Wait till the mask completely dries off. Do not keep for too long as charcoal masks can dry out your skin if left on for longer than required.
Rinse off your charcoal mask thoroughly, make sure to not leave any residue behind.
Always follow up with a moisturiser for a plump and glowing complexion.

Ingredients :
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground pepper
2 ½ cups cold water
2 ½ teaspoon dashi powder
1-2 pcs eggs
2 teaspoons Japanese soy sauce (Kikoman or regular soy sauce if not available)
green onions chopped
cooked octopus, cut into small bite-sized pieces
pickled red ginger ( beni shoga)
shredded cabbage
oil for the Takoyaki plate
Toppings:
seaweed strips
mayonnaise
takoyaki Sauce
dried Bonito ( katsuobushi)
rice crisp (optional) or tempura seraps
Utensils/ Equipment:
Takoyaki Plate or maker
Takoyaki pick or chopstick
Oil brush
Instructions :
Dashi Mixture : Dissolve dashi powder in 2 ½ cups cold water.
(1) Cooking the squid: Add the squid in the boiling water. Cook for 2 minutes. Drain the squid. Slice into small bite sized pieces.
(Squid should be cooked either very briefly or for a long time - anything in between the squid will become rubbery and chewy)
(2) In a bowl. combine flour, baking powder, ground black pepper and salt.
(3) Add egg (lightly beaten), soy sauce and dashi mixture. Mix everything altogether.
(4) Heat the Takoyaki pan over a medium high heat.
(5) Brush oil in the entire surface of the Takoyaki plate.
(6) Pour the batter into all the wells until it covers the entire plate.
(7) Place one piece of octopus into each well.
(8) Scatter green onions, pickled ginger and cabbage in each well.
(9) When the bottom of the batter starts turning light brown, use a chopstick or Takoyaki pick to cut out a square shape around each Takoyaki well.
(10) Move your chopsticks or pick around each well, then pushing on one side down to flip over the batter.
(11) Continue flipping each ball occasionally until it becomes golden brown.
(12) Best serve when hot. Serve with toppings: mayonnaise, takoyaki sauce, dried bonito and seaweed strips.

Ingredients:
1 kg chicken or 1 whole chicken cut into pieces
1 cup flour
1 cup cornstarch
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
5 spice (optional)
Oil for frying
Instructions:
(1) Marinate the chicken for an hour with salt and pepper. Set aside.
(2) For the Breading: Mix the following ingredients:
Flour
Cornstarch
Ground black pepper
Garlic Powder
Salt
5 Spice (optional)
(3) Dip the chicken on both sides in the breading mix.
(4) Heat the oil in high heat ( 350 degrees).
(5) Fry the chicken meat in the pan until golden brown.
(6) Remove the chicken from then pan. Drain in the strainer. Or dry it in a plate with paper towel to make sure the oil is well drained or absorbed in a paper towel.

3 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
1 beef cube
2 cups beef broth / beef stock
¼ ground pepper

Made by the Croatian born director Djordje Kadijevic for the Belgrade television company "Radiotelevizija Beograd", it was as far as I know only ever shown twice on the then Yugoslavian television network - its original 1973 TV broadcast - and again in the eighties - It has never been "officially" shown outside of its country of origin and no DVD release has ever surfaced.
Leptirica was the first "Serbian" horror film and was loosely based on the 1880 story "After Ninety Years" by Milovan Glisic. The story revolves around the 19th century Serbian village of "Zaroshje" that is plagued by the vampire "Sava Savanovic" who has been systematically killing anyone who takes charge of the flour mill (situated in the woods outside the village). After four millers have been killed the council elders become desperate as food is rapidly running out.
Meanwhile on the other side of the village a poor young man Strahinja is in love with Radojka (played by the hauntingly beautiful Mirjana Nikolic) the daughter of the local landowner Zivan. After asking Zivan for his daughters hand in marriage and been refused on the grounds of his poverty Strahinja decides to leave the village. On the way he is met by members of the village council who persuade him to take the job of the village miller. Fully expecting him to be dead by the morning the council is astonished to find him still alive and decide to locate and destroy the grave of the vampire Sava Savanovic.
After locating the grave they pierce it with a stake but the soul of the vampire in the form of a butterfly escapes from the coffin before it is sprinkled by the Holy water. The village council assume it is all over and argue that the landowner Zivan is being unreasonable in his refusal to allow his daughter to marry Strahinja and with the blessing of the local priest they kidnap Radojka. After a drunken celebration on the eve of the wedding night everyone except Zivan looks forward to the marriage of the two young lovers the next day - however events take a strange turn...
Try this wonderful beech smoked cheese from the O’Farrell family in Carrigaline, Co Cork, Ireland. This earthy combination of crab apples and smoked cheese is sure to please. 1 box (10oz) pastry shells 1 lb crab apples 1 3/4 cup sugar 1 cup water 1 cup of Carrigaline Beech Smoked Cheese pieces 1 cup warm milk 2 Tbsp butter 2 Tbsp flour 2 oz grated Carrigaline Beech Smoked Cheese fresh thyme for garnish Prepare pastry shells as instructed on the box. When baked, remove tops and set aside until ready to use. Remove stems from the crab apples , cut in half and using a paring knife, remove seeds. In a medium saucepan combine water and sugar. Add apples, bring to a boil , reduce heat and simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes or until apples are soft. Mash with masher. Pass apples through a strainer. You may use the liquids later for crab apple jelly if you wish. Remove skins from strainer. Set pulp aside. Add butter to a medium sized cold saucepan. Melt over a low heat, add flour and mix with a wooden spoon. Gradually whisk warm milk to mixture until smooth. Mix in grated Carrigaline Beech Smoked cheese. Into each pastry shell, place a piece of Carrigaline Beech Smoked cheese. Pour creamy cheese sauce on top followed by a tablespoon of apple sauce. Return pastry shells to the oven for approx 4-5 minutes, taking care not to burn. Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh thyme to garnish.

Combine with either a fork or pastry cutter until almost a fine powder, and then repeat this procedure until oil is gone. CAREFUL - you MAY NOT end up using all the water. Drizzle half of the water over the top of oiled flour and combine - mixture should still be dry. Now while mixing drizzle down the sides of the bowl, turn bowl occasionally to make sure all sides are drizzled. Keep on mixing (not necessarily pouring water) until a soft dough is established. It should be moist and slightly gooey to the touch. Plop dough out on some cellophane cut long enough to form a tube (should be about the length and diameter of an inner cardboard of a paper towel roll) cover and let sit in fridge for at least 10 but no more than 30 minutes. While tortilla press (or griddle) is heating divide into equal balls shaped like hockey pucks. Use a gram or an oz scale to weigh the total dough; this will help you make each ball duplicate. Begin pressing the ball that you first made first and work your way through the line of dough balls in that order. The setting of the hockey pucks helps the tortilla hold together better. Follow manufacture directions on tortilla press or press out by hand with rolling pin. Modifications: Add garlic salt instead of salt and olive oil as the oil for savory seasoned tortillas. Add 1 TBS succanant or sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon to make sweet breakfast/dessert tortillas EnJOY!

Ingredients: For the pancakes: 4 ounces plain flour 1 large free range egg Quarter or half a pint of milk Pinch of salt 3 tablespoons of snipped chives Butter for frying Mushroom filling 1 small onion finely chopped 8 closed cap mushrooms finely sliced 1 clove garlic finely minced half packet dried porcini mushrooms 2 ounces butter 1 teaspoons flour Dash of white wine Dash of milk A pinch of sugar salt and pepper 1 large handful of parsley finely chopped Iced cream: 200ml double cream 1 large handful of basil chopped or torn salt and pepper Method: Mix the flour, egg, milk, chives and salt together to make a thin batter. Fry the pancakes in a little butter, drain on kitchen paper and set aside. Pop the porcini in a jug and top up with hot water. Fry the onions in a little butter, adding white wine to stop them burning. After around 8 minutes add the fresh mushrooms and garlic and sprinkle on a tiny bit of sugar which helps the mushrooms caramelise and adds depth of flavour. Sprinkle on the flour, stir and add the porcini liquor and chop the rehydrated porcini. Add these to the pan and mix in a little milk. Season and add the parsley, the filling is done. Whisk the cream until it is quite stiff, add the basil and seasoning and place in the freezer, you can make quenelle shapes before you freeze which is easier. The pancakes keep all day so can be made in advance and microwave to heat up as this keeps them nice and soft and the filling moist.

All you need is:
1 ¼ cups, or 180 grams of sifted all-purpose flour.
1 tablespoon or 10 grams of baking powder
1 tablespoon, or 10 grams of sugar
½ teaspoon, or a good pinch of salt
1 beaten egg
1 cup, or 250 mL of milk
2 tablespoons or 30 mL of olive or sunflower oil
and an ungreased crepe pan.
Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar into one bowl.
Then mix the milk, oil, and beaten egg into another bowl. Pour the mixture over the flour.
Stir using a wooden spoon until the dry flour disappears.
The batter must be lumpy, so donât over-mix it. This is the secret for fluffy and light pancakes.
Pre-heat the crepe pan.
