Romans 4:2-5 is one of those passages, along with James 2:21-24, and Hebrews 11:8-10, which points to Abraham's faith and works through listening to God and forsaking all. The do-nothing preachers on both sides of the holiness debate rarely use these verses because they hate the forsake all teaching more than anything else Jesus taught. Instead they focus on the dead works of religion; rules about not swearing, paying your tithes, getting water baptised, etc. But like Jesus said in the Beattitudes: Abraham hungered and thirsted after righteousness and it was his faith, exemplified by his good works—his willingness to give up everything including his own son, Isaac—was what justified Abraham before God. This is exactly what is missing in the church world today.
What is baptism and how important is it? Is water baptism required for salvation? More than that: Did Jesus mean for us to be baptized in water at all? This video, 'What Was John The Baptist's Baptism Like?', looks at the baptism of John the Baptist and lets John himself dictate the terms under which a person should be baptised with water, including his demand for "fruits of repentance". In other words, what's the evidence someone has really repented? Check out this video to see the need for a deeper relationship with Jesus and his teachings than can be found through a dip in a pool.

Here at last are the ones I can identify the most with. They were called the Radicals and for their time they were. By being baptised as adults they were denying the efficacy of their childhood baptism and in so doing incurred the wrath of not only the Roman Catholic Church but those Protestants who had not yet seen the full light of the Scriptures. They had not seen that baptism actually plays no part in salvation but is instead by Faith Alone without any good or indeed ritual works. (Eph 2:8-10)
Band: Nightwish Song: Amaranth Anime: Bleach + FMA Lyrics: Baptised with a perfect name The doubting one by heart Alone without himself War between him and the day Need someone to blame In the end, little he can do alone You believe but what you see You receive but what you give Caress the one, the Never-Fading rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow Caress the one, the hiding amaranth In a land of the daybreak Apart from the wandering pack In this brief flight of time we reach For the ones who ever dare You believe but what you see You receive but what you give Caress the one, the Never-Fading rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow Caress the one, the hiding amaranth In a land of the daybreak Caress the one, the Never-Fading rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow Caress the one, the hiding amaranth In a land of the daybreak Reachin', searchin' for something untouched Hearing voices of the Never-Fading callin' Callin'...Callin' Caress the one, the Never-Fading rain in your heart - the tears of snow-white sorrow Caress the one, the hiding amaranth In a land of the daybreak Caress the one, the Never-Fading rain in your heart [Rain] - the tears of snow-white sorrow Caress the one, the hiding amaranth [Hide] In a land of the daybreak...day-Break!
