Ese día Candy ve al papá de Annie y le saluda, él le cuenta que vino a visitar al señor McGregor que es vecino suyo. Candy es retada nuevamente por Mary Jane por anteponer sus sentimientos a sus obligaciones. Candy regresa a la habitación del señor McGregor y éste le pide que se pare en la ventana para que le de sombra pero sin tapar el paisaje

Albert le cuenta a Candy que su hermana era la madre de Anthony, y más allá de las cartas escritas por los muchachos, adoptó a Candy porque su mirada le recordaba a ella. Candy y Albert recuerdan como se conocieron y sus encuentros ocasionales, en lo que Albert siempre ayudaba a Candy. Finalmente ella le dice que le buscaba porque Eliza le dijo que por órdenes suyas tendría que casarse con Neal. Albert le dice que jamás dio la orden y que Candy puede seguir con su vida. Luego Candy va al Hogar de Pony, porque le dijeron que la Señorita Pony estaba muy enferma, pero era nada más para hacer un reunión familiar, a la cúal asistieron Annie, Archie, Albert y Tom. La señorita Pony y la hermana María le dicen a Candy que los Britter la quieren adoptar y ella no quiere que eso pase, por lo que cuando van por ella, Candy hace todo lo posible para no ser adoptada, comportándose con malos modales, al hacerlo a la señora Britter le agrada más Annie y decide que es mejor adoptarla a ella y no a Candy. Cuando la señorita Ponny y la hermana María le dicen a Anni que los Britter la quieren adoptar, ella acepta la adopción. Annie se va con la familia Britter y ella se despide de Candy desde el carruaje
