La teoría de la dependencia es una respuesta teórica elaborada entre los años 50 y 70 por científicos sociales a la situación de estancamiento socio-económico latinoamericano en el siglo XX como una respuesta a la teoría del desarrollo. La Teoría de la Dependencia utiliza la dualidad centro-periferia para exponer que la economía mundial posee un diseño desigual y perjudicial para los países no desarrollados, a los que se les ha asignado un rol periférico de producción de materias primas con bajo valor agregado, en tanto que las decisiones fundamentales y los mayores beneficios se realizan en los países centrales, a los que se ha asignado la producción industrial de alto valor agregado. Las naciones pobres del sur proveen a las naciones ricas de sus recursos naturales, su mano de obra barata y un destino ideal para la tecnología obsoleta, situaciones sin las cuales estas últimas naciones no podrían mantener el nivel de vida al que están acostumbrados. Las naciones ricas buscan perpetuar el estado de dependencia por múltiples razones y por motivos por demás obvios. Esta influencia no se limita a lo económico, sino que va más allá, llegando a los político, mediático, educativo, cultural, deportivo y prácticamente cualquier aspecto que sea necesario para el desarrollo humano. Las naciones ricas buscan eliminar cualquier intento de las naciones dependientes de resistir su influencia, mediante sanciones económicas o el uso de fuerza militar.
Sinopsis (Fuente: Cine Clásico Argentino) Los hermanos Santos y Rufino Peralta (del Carril y Laxalt) se emplean como trabajadores en los yerbatales del Alto Paraná. Allí se encontrarán con condiciones infrahumanas de trabajo y la codicia de los patrones. Además, Santos se enfrentará con un capataz por el amor de Amelia (Adriana Benetti). La rebelión va madurando, al tiempo que se va gestando la formación de un sindicato de trabajadores. Finalmente, los obreros se alzan y castigan duramente a sus explotadores.

Ron Kischuck—Toledo Jazz Orch/Mardi Gras Ron Kischuck is in his third season as the artistic director of the Toledo Jazz Orchestra. He is also adjunct faculty of Wayne State University teaching both classical and jazz trombone and jazz trumpet, as well as an artist in residence at the Toledo School For The Arts and director of the Toledo Junior Jazz Orchestra and its educational programs. He is a Yamaha clinician and performing artist, the leader of The Masters Of Music Big Band, and The Tartarsauce Traditional Jazz Band. Ron is the owner of Brassworks Entertainment in Detroit and The Masters Of Music Conservatory in Royal Oak and the Detroit area’s most prominent trombonist. He has been a featured soloist with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the orchestra many times as principal or assistant principal trombonist. His Masters Of Music Big Band has backed up Johnny Mathis, Hal Linden, The Temptations, Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, and Regis Philbin among others. Ron has 13 CD releases and is releasing three new recordings this year.
