I've noticed a similar phenomenon going on in the world of secular politics as I've noticed going on in religion, especially in the United States. It's known as polarization. And, so I take the title from the political campaign slogan of Richard Nixon, the man who was President the last time I saw so much political polarization. As I see it, the basic problem which Richard Nixon had was that he accomplished what his predecessors of the other party had not been able to do. He opened China, he ended the war in Vietnam, and he ended the miliraty draft. And so, the other party became almost obsessive about him - and some still are. If he were still alive, he could probably share some things with President Obama.
And in the world of religion, there is similar polarization going on in a number of denominations - and between denominations. Worse, some groups seem to make accusations in one direction when there is history to show that they could make those accusations into a mirror.
And I think about three men I greatly admire, some of the greatest theological minds our world has seen: Venerable Solanus Casey, Archbishop Fulton Sheen and Father Thomas Merton. All three were Romal Catholic clergy, but all three were comfortable working with people of other faiths - and did so with no intent to convert them. Father Solanus was a Capuchin priest simplex known, among other things, for the soup kitchens he founded. Bishop Sheen was known for his work in radio and television. Father Merton was a Trappist monk whose diverse circle of friends included the Dhalai Lama. And they all spoke about unity without unification.
Can you imagine what could be accomplished if we could come together to work together?
Blessed Be!

On the fateful day in August 60 years ago, when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, only three photographs were taken by residents of the city. As a result there is only a fragmentary record of what it is like to experience the onslaught of a nuclear explosion.
But now an intriguing and unique Japanese history project has persuaded survivors - many of whom have never spoken about their experience before - to draw the scenes they remember from that day. This produced an outpouring of paintings. Some were amateurish and strange, but they created a vivid and intense record of the horror experienced that day. For many survivors who have never had the opportunity to express their emotions, these paintings produced an outpouring of hidden emotion, and an end to torments that have lasted six decades.
This film shows the range of images created by the survivors of the atom bomb, and tells the story of how some of them have discovered new facts about that day and what happened to their families or the people they came across in the aftermath of the nuclear explosion. Some of them now feel that the paintings have brought them a form of peace with the horrors they witnessed on the day that ushered in the atomic age.
The film was originally made by NHK, the national broadcaster in Japan, and the English version for Channel 4 has been made by Flashback Television.

http://www.natureowisdom.com/inflow As we travel along the road we have chosen, we may read many great books and absorb the words of wisdom contained within. There are also many wonderful teachers willing to share their knowledge and experiences so that we may find the road a little easier to navigate. In this unique video, we pay tribute to one of those great teachers. Someone who has met with some of lifes greatest challenges and triumphed over adversity. His philosophy is simple. In life all of our challenges fall into one of three categories. “Money ~ Health ~ Relationships.” In his great book The Power Pause he reveals a simple formula to help us understand this concept and how to apply it to our daily living.
