The Amazon rainforest is home to a bewildering array of wildlife, including macaws, toucans, tyrant flycatchers, capybaras, tapir, sloths, squirrel monkeys, red howler monkeys, jaguars, caimans, anacondas, tarantulas, leaf-cutter ants and scarlet ibis.
Directed by the first rate Fritz Lang, Scarlet Street is film noir at its finest. Utilizing the bleak coldness of black and white to its zenith, Lang paints a frigid psychological picture of some of the most reprehensible characters ever put on film. It hardly requires mention that in the nineteen forties, this windswept view on a harsh and barren existence was nearly unheard of. The story is of a lonely man, the role deftly assumed by the masterful Edward G. Robinson (The Ten Commandments), who is unhappy in his marriage and seeks solace in the arms of a prostitute. Unlike the coy floozies that earlier films had made call girls appear, Joan Bennett plays Kitty with a gritty and world-weary realism. Bennett seduces Robinson and convinces him to embezzle money to pay for her lavish lifestyle. German director Fritz Lang is best known for the highly influential films from relatively early in his career, especially Metropolis (1927) and M (1931).

In one of the earliest Sherlock Holmes films ever produced, A Study in Scarlet is the enigmatic tale of homicide and bloody codes. When a rich member of a high society business group is murdered, Sherlock Holmes is hired by his widow to investigate. Secret passages, murder suspects, lying, cheating, and scheming populate this engaging and mysterious adventure. Holmes employs his deductive reasoning to its utmost, while the criminals deviously try to cover up their wrongdoings. A Study in Scarlet is orthodox Sherlock Holmes fun, and that’s a good thing.
It's hard to believe that this song came from a German opera, but it did. Die Dreigroschenoper, composed by Kurt Weill, premiered in Berlin in 1928. Known in English as The Threepenny Opera, the opera tells of robberies, murders, and other deadly deeds. The song, Mack the Knife, has been made famous by the likes of Louis Armstrong and Bobby Darin. Here, the Jazz One Band of
