Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. Here he talks about alternatives to anal sex and oral sex that don't carry the risk of HIV transmission. Mutual masturbation and rubbing against your partner do not risk HIV transmission. We in the West have a "wham bam" culture in which these alternatives may seem less exciting at first, but they can be very pleasurable. You can investigate Tantric sexuality, Taoism, or the Kama Sutra for gay men. "Wham bam" sex isn't nurturing; it's almost always abusive, violent, and non-nurturing. These alternatives are nurturing and enlightening. They activate all your chakras, leading to an awakening. Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. Here he talks about how people sometimes feel suicidal when they think they're about to test HIV positive or have tested HIV positive, and why suicide makes no sense. A person who is diagnosed HIV positive today can expect to live a full lifespan with a good quality of life so long as they follow medical advice and take care of their health and nutrition. Many gay men who committed suicide lacked a network. Gay men should get a support network in place so that they have it when they need it. Drugs, depression, and isolation all increase the risk of suicide. People suffering from depression need immediate treatment. Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. Eastern philosophers say that 99% of humanity is unconscious. If your world is your club, back room, dark room, adult videos, and Internet sex-on-demand, you're leading an unconscious lifestyle, and this unconsciousness will kill you. To the world at large, the "Gay" identity is AIDS identity--a hedonistic and narcissistic identity. But if you wake up, you realize that there's more to life than your sexual orientation. Here he talks about how back rooms and dark rooms contribute to the spread of HIV. Back rooms and dark rooms are stand-alone clubs or rooms attached to bars or pubs that have no lighting and where people have anonymous sex with people they can't even see in the dark. When you can't see your partner, you can't make any judgments about your potential partner. You can't tell if they appear healthy or are obviously ill. You can't make an informed choice. Back rooms and dark rooms may be a major venue for HIV transmission today. For more information, visit http://www.posh-uk.org.uk/ and http://www.AIDSvideos.org/.

Here he talks about how the Internet is the most radical tool we have today for sex. You can search for people who want to have sex right now in your neighborhood. When people show up, they often don't care about safer sex and don't use condoms unless you specifically request it. Here he talks about how circuit parties revolve around a lot of drug use and unsafe sex. He recommends reading "Life Outside" by Michelangelo Signorile and "Sexual Ecology" by Gabriel Rotello to understand the issues. A person may come to a circuit party and leave with one or more sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV. Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. Here he talks about how gay men sometimes feel that life after forty isn't worth living. Studies show that gay men after forty often feel undesirable and completely worthless if their entire raison d’etre for living was based on the short-lived currency of youth and their continued sexual desirability. There's an English song "No One Love a Fairy When She's Fat and Forty." After forty, gay men often can't do the things they used to do. This may explain why so many gay men over forty are getting infected with HIV. There's life after forty for gay men. Get a life. Get several lives. There's life beyond being gay and HIV positive. Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. Here he talks about his not-for-profit Positively Healthy. Positively Healthy was formed as the result of the death of one of Cass Mann's closest friends, David Reichenberg. After he died, Cass went into shock and decided he didn't want to see anyone else die like that. Cass got linked up with Simon Martin, who had founded ‘The Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine’, and an HIV positive nurse named Dietmar Bolle. They decided to prevent all the deaths from AIDS that they could. The ethos was that Positively Healthy would pay no salaries, own no premises and would be 100% run by its service users. Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. He feels that ironically, it is often other gay men who most stigmatize gay men. He experiences the deepest discrimination from people in the gay community who want nothing to do with an HIV positive person. Many HIV positive gay men don't want to go to clubs because visible side effects of antiretroviral drugs like lipodystrophy (muscle wasting), lipoatrophy (facial wasting) and the "buffalo hump" (irregular fat deposits in the body) cause them to be singled out and ridiculed. As a result, HIV positive gay men often don't go to lit venues; they go to dark rooms, back rooms, or parks instead. He advocates that HIV positive people avoid all toxic or artificial substances and eat only organic food. They should eat regular meals throughout the day. He further advocates vegetarianism to avoid immunotoxic and indigestible animal foods in order to fully support the immune system. Don’t smoke. Avoid all recreational drug. Certain alcoholic beverages are OK in moderation if you and your drug regime can tolerate it, but if you have an addictive personality you should avoid these completely. Also, avoid all toxic people. It's hard to give these up after years of addiction but vital for your health! For more information about HIV/AIDS, visit http://www.posh-uk.org.uk/ and http://www.AIDSvideos.org/.
Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. Here he talks about the risks of oral sex. Oral sex can transmit HIV, syphilis, and other STIs. If you have unprotected sex, you're risking syphilis, HIV, gonorrhoea, and whatever other diseases your partner has in their system. However, it's difficult to get gay men to use condoms for oral sex because people consider the risk much lower than anal sex. The risk isn't zero, and the risk isn't only of HIV transmission. Remember that your partner might have had sex with other partners immediately before you have oral sex. Oral sex is not safer sex. Use a condom if you choose to have oral sex. Here he talks about disclosure of HIV status before having sex. If you are HIV positive and want to have sex, you must disclose your HIV status. Do you tell them and risk rejection, or not tell and have your way with them? If an HIV positive person doesn't disclose and doesn't use protection (including for oral sex!), the HIV positive person can be criminally prosecuted in the United Kingdom. It's possible to use DNA sequencing to prove that you contacted HIV from a specific partner. If you're HIV positive, it is your responsibility to disclose and to use a condom every time. If the prospective partner says no, accept it. For more information, visit http://www.posh-uk.org.uk/ and http://www.AIDSvideos.org/.
Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. Here he talks about the dangers of playing away. If you're in a relationship with someone and you don't know what they're doing when you're apart, or you suspect they're having sex with other partners, or they have admitted it, end the relationship. If your partner loves you, they won't be playing away. Cut your losses. It's not worth it. What they bring home could kill you. Today, HIV is often transmitted within relationships. We think that the answer to all our needs is more sex and/or better sex. That's not how it works. First, get your relationship with yourself right. If you do that, you can deal with your partner. Cass Mann is one of the world's longest-term HIV-positive diagnosed gay men, now in his third decade of living with HIV, and the founder of UK’s only gay men’s HIV/AIDS charity Positively Healthy, which provides HIV services including education, support, and peer counselling. Here he talks about the role that partying and drugs play in contributing to the spread of HIV. People often contract HIV when on drugs and partying. Drugs used in clubs increase the risk that people will have unprotected sex. People sometimes experience a sense of inevitability that they WILL contract HIV, therefore they don't take steps to avoid contracting HIV. They may even long for the sense of finality that comes with contracting HIV. (In reality, even once HIV positive they will still need to practice safer sex.) Drug use can contribute to the progression of HIV infection towards clinical AIDS.
Here he talks about why HIV is still dangerous, and safer sex is still vital, even in the age of antiretroviral medications (ARV) and highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Today, HIV positive people are treated with a combination of multiple drugs. This requires finding a combination that will treat that patient's strain(s) of HIV and that they can tolerate. ARV/HAART can have serious side effects. In many cases, people can't tolerate a drug's side effects, so they can't take that drug. Sometimes, people are unable to take any drugs and die as a result. Many strains of HIV are resistant to one or more drugs.
Here he talks about the realities of HIV in the gay community today. Any gay man becoming HIV positive in the United Kingdom today has at some level made a decision that it was OK to contract HIV, because we know how to prevent transmission of HIV and if a man applies that knowledge, it's extremely unlikely he'll contract HIV. Unprotected sex is taking a risk each time of needlessly contracting HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Drug use increases the risk that people will have unprotected sex while under the influence. Protect yourself and your partner every time you have sex regardless of your HIV status! www.brokenenglishfilm.com In a startling mature and nuanced performance, Parker Posey plays Nora Wilder, a thirty-something Manhattanite who is cynical about love and relationships, in this astute collaboration with first-time writer/director Zoe Cassavetes. Nora plugs away at her job in a posh downtown hotel and can't help but wonder what it is she has to do to find a relationship as ideal as her friend Audrey's (Drea De Matteo) "perfect marriage." It doesn't help that her overbearing mother (Gena Rowlands) takes every opportunity to remind Nora that she's still unattached. After a series of disastrous first dates, she meets Julien (Melvil Poupaud), a seemingly devil-may-care Frenchman with a passion for living. Expecting another disastrous ending, Nora tries to avoid making the same mistakes. She finds herself in Paris looking to break old patterns. Inevitably, Nora has to look inward before she can find a new outlook on life and most importantly, love.

More inconsequential nonsense, no ranting or babies today. Just stood on a spot in posh & leafy Chiswick and pretended I was a CCTV camera. Kind of like the way that Coppola used the camera in my favourite movie, The Conversation . But with a phone.
It?s interesting what you notice, if you stop in one place and zoom in and out with your camera or your brain. My phone is helping me to see things in the world around me that I?ve taken for granted and blanked out.
Today has been a day for noticing how much things have changed since I?ve been alive. Not just non-smoking pubs, coffee bars and CCTV - I was flicking through Microserfs and thinking about how futuristic the email and geek lifestyle seemed in 1995, and how real it is now. And then I came downstairs and found this post from Gogen, about his memories of the 1980s . I said everything else I?ve got to say about that in my comment there.
In other weird news, the last film I did like this one, Everybody?s Gotta Learn Sometime , might be scr...
