Symphonie fantastique is an epic for a huge orchestra. Through its movements, it tells the story of an artist's self-destructive passion for a beautiful woman. The symphony describes his obsession and dreams, tantrums and moments of tenderness, and visions of suicide and murder, ecstasy and despair. The fifth movement is a satanic dream. The Artist sees himself in the midst of a ghastly crowd of sorcerers and monsters assembled for his funeral. The air is filled with strange groans, bursts of laughter, shouts and echoes. Suddenly, the Artist's beloved appears as a witch, her theme distorted into spiteful parody. A vast church bell begins to chime the peal of death. Bassoons and tubas bark out the Dies Irae -- the traditional funeral chant. The orchestra divides into teams to enact a sinister ritual. The groaning theme from the beginning of the movement transforms into a merry black Sabbath dance. The form of the dance is the fugue -- after struggling to master the form for the Prix de Rome, Berlioz chose the fugue to represent his vision of hell. The music whips into a frenzy as it bears the soul of the Artist to his damnation. His beloved gloats over the scene. Such an ending had never been heard before.
The beautiful and tragic Metamorphosen was composed by German composer Richard Strauss at the age of 80 in 1945. The music was written in response to the fire-bombing of Dresden and the destruction of the opera house there. The destruction of Hiroshima by an atomic bomb in that same year make this audio-visual coupling rather appropriate. I took the photographs myself on my trip to Japan in 2011. Waterfall saga is an outstanding inspirational and relaxing music journey into the nature of our soul. Pascal Michael Stiefel creates music that inspires the mind and leads to a place of peace. Waterfall is a musical saga, an insightful story told with classical orchestra and relaxing new age music. Whether as individual pieces for short relaxation, or as a whole story. Waterfall saga is a consistent, impressive and enchanting relaxing musical masterpiece.
The main theme of water is carried throughout the whole album and is an important part and I loved how the artist has managed to tell only with the help of melodies and sounds a whole, self-contained story about the importance of water. Waterfall saga has touched me and moved me-

On October 13 - 2011, Goetze and Cissoko will appear at Culturehub in NYC, in the debut performance of their Mande Symphony, a multi-media event that will feature the duo along with a string quartet, the much lauded Richie Barshay (Chick Corea, Esperanza Spaulding) on drums, and computer-modulated video created by visualist Joshue Ott.
The Mande Symphony tells the legendary story of a Mande griot, Kimmintang CIssoko, from the time he prayed that he could help alleviate the suffering of his people through his encounters with African spirits and genies that ultimately led him to create the African kora.
Mandinka, the language of the Mande people, is a tonal language, making it ideal for musical adaption. The tonal sound provides a base for notated, rhythmic sound that provokes improvisational passages from the orchestra.
During the performance, sampled speech and music will be sent to a computer, where Joshue Ott will modulate their effect on stunning visuals from South Africa, in real time. Ott creates ...
