This hard-hitting, fact-based drama was filmed on location in the actual Synanon House in Santa Monica. Academy Award® winner Edmond OâBrien (Best Supporting Actor, 1954, The Barefoot Contessa) stars as a reformed alcoholic who began the facility to help other addicts of all kinds, and who coined the famous phrase âtoday is the first day of the rest of your life.â An outstanding cast â Chuck Connors, Stella Stevens, Richard Conte, Alex Cord, Eartha Kitt, Barbara Luna, Alejandro Rey, Larry Kert and some actual Synanon residents â drive this multi-layered story of redemption and tragedy, crisply photographed by two-time Academy Award® winner Harry Stradling (Best Cinematography, 1945, The Picture of Dorian Gray; 1964, My Fair Lady) and directed by the great Richard Quine (Strangers When We Meet). Newly remastered.

Bill Shirley singing On the Street Where you Live. Nowadays, people may see this clip to be a little...stalker-ish. But back then (1964) It was romantic lol
I play a Lerner & Loewe song from My Fair Lady. I grew up listening to this, as my mom had a Broadway soundtrack recording (with Julie Andrews, Rex Harrison, Stanley Halloway). I can't play this song without hearing Rex Harrison croaking his monologue throughout!
But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou her maid art far more fair than she.
Be not her maid, since she is envious.
Her vestal livery is but sick and green,
And none but fools do wear it. Cast it off.
It is my lady; O, it is my love!
O that she knew she were!
She speaks, yet she says nothing. What of that?
Her eye discourses; I will answer it.
I am too bold; 'tis not to me she speaks.
Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven,
Having some business, do entreat her eyes
To twinkle in their spheres till they return.
What if her eyes were there, they in her head?
The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars
As daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven
Would through the airy region stream so bright
That birds would sing and think it were not night.
With his new album, Chris Botti pays tribute to Italy and its music with a vibrant and sensual
set of performances drawn from sources ranging from classical opera to the soundtracks of
Ennio Morricone. Recorded in Los Angeles, London, and Rome, Italia is a brilliant showcase
for Botti's musical versatility as performer, composer and collaborator. The album includes
the newly composed title track featuring the passionate vocals of renowned Italian tenor
Andrea Bocelli as well as a new interpretation of "The Very Thought of You" with guest vocalist
Paula Cole. In another of the album's duets, Botti adds sublime and sensitive details to
Dean Martin's vocals, originally recorded in 1957, on an emotionally-resonant version of
"I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face," a song first written for "My Fair Lady."
