This week on 1Life2Play, Braz attempts to bring his challenge woes to a halt and beat someone in something! Can he do it? The crew, while hitting on what they've been playing over the past week, find out why Verlane has put picking up the PS Vita on the back burner. Also, Dan Stansbury drops by for some gaming fun! We also talk about the SUPABOY found on Amazon.com and express our surprise at the price of some ol' school classics! All that plus the mod report, weekly steal and the news including our thoughts on EA & Bioware's decision to release Day 1 DLC for Mass Effect 3.
February 20th is Tempest Smith Day, and she deserves a day to mark her short life. On February 20, 2001, Tempest Smith died as a result of the relentless bullying she received from her classmates. She was shy, she liked to wear black "Gothic" clothing and, she was studying and following Wicca.
She was also highly intelligent and talented. She wrote poetry, played the flute, and in general showd more depth to herself that most folks would expect in a middle-school girl. Had she lived, she would be entering her mid-twenties today. One can only imagine the young woman she might have become!
Many of us have endured bullying, and perhaps most of us who would find interest in a podcast such as this. It could be said that Tempest Smith was one of so many, but she is also one who represents ever-so-many. A look at the Tempest Smith Foundation web site reveals photographs of many more.
And so, perhaps let us see her as a patron for those who are the victims of bullying. And if we keep Tempest in mind, we might be able to put an end to bullying.
And this is a special ritual done in her honor to celebrate her life and mark her day.
Blessed Be!

Imbolc in some places is a Sabbat greeted with a feeling of relief. We've had winter with us for a while, the brightness and merriness of Yule is in the past, and what's been left to many of us is simply cold and perhaps a bunch of snow, too! At Imbolc, we celebrate the first stirrings of spring, with the first shoots of the heartier crops pushing their heads through the snow to be seen!
We were made a promise at Samhain when we celebrated the life of the old year. That promise was re-stated at Yule, as the sun began its return to us. And Imbolc gives us the first tangible evidence that it is actually happening. We have the first actual evidence that spring is actually going to be!
Other paths, including the Christian, have flattered us by adopting our Sabbats, and this one is no exception. However, you sometimes might feel forced to dig deep if you want to learn about more than "Ground Hog Day". But that's OK, there is something very significant - and it gives an extra perspective to help us see the full importance of what Imbolc means!
And so, let's celebrate!
Blessed Be!

Judging by the sheer amount of scenes featuring biometrics in Hollywood movies we can reasonably conclude that Hollywood has an agenda. The following movie is a compilation of (just a fraction of) biometric propaganda, or to be more precise 'predictive programming'. Predictive programming is a subtle form of psychological conditioning provided by the media to acquaint the public with planned societal changes to be implemented by the powers that be. If and when these changes are put through, the public will already be familiarized with them and will accept them as 'natural progressions', thus lessening any possible public resistance and commotion. Predictive programming therefore may be considered as a veiled form of pre-emptive mass manipulation or mind control, courtesy of our puppet masters. I find it interesting that they often show how people get around this high tech security and they often show the underlying database (a.k.a. control grid too). Also the casual manner in which people in these movies interact with biometric devices is striking. In the movies people have absolutely no issue with providing any type of biometric ID (this is how you are expected to behave in the near future). Upon editing this movie I also found that the person providing biometric verification usually gets positive confirmation in some subtle way, a light nod, a smile, a cheery ping, no doubt meant to get this tech stuck in your brain as a positive thing. Some might find this montage a bit confusing, but I need to explain that the emphasis is on the biometry, not on the plot of the movie.
It's Yuletide, and here's our Yuletide celebration, in our special chapel where all join in, no matter where you are!
Yule is a special time, for so many reasons, not the least of which is its prominence in the Wheel Of The Year. After all, it is the first visible fulfillment of the promise made at Samhain. There was a death then, but also a promise of a new birth. And that's what we have here, and we celebrate it.
In fact, most paths at the time of their Winter Solstice celebrate it, and for good reason. It was the beginning of the sun's return. There were wintry days ahead, but a promise had been made, and this is its first sign of fulfillment, no matter if it's December in the Northern Hemisphere or June in the Southern Hemisphere. And since I'm in the Nothern Hemisphere, we have this now.
And if you look at it, there's something special. And perhaps we can look at it here.
But above all, it's Yule and a good time to celebrate and enjoy fellowship!
Blessed Be!
Spring arrives in the polar regions, and the sun appears after an absence of five months; warmth and life return to these magical ice worlds - the greatest seasonal transformation on our planet is underway. Male Adelie penguins arrive in Antarctica to build their nests - it takes a good property to attract the best mates and the males will stop at nothing to better their rivals! But these early birds face the fiercest storms on the planet. In the Arctic, a polar bear mother is hunting with her cubs. Inland, the frozen rivers start to break up and billions of tons of ice are swept downstream in the greatest of polar spectacles. This melt-water fertilizes the Arctic Ocean, feeding vast shoals of Arctic cod and narwhal. The influx of freshwater accelerates the breakup of the sea-ice - an area of ice the size of Australia will soon vanish from the Arctic. On land, a woolly bear caterpillar emerges from the snow having spent the winter frozen solid. Caterpillars normally become moths within months of hatching, but life is so harsh here that the woolly bear takes 14 years to reach adulthood. Once mature it has only days to find a mate before it dies! Alongside the caterpillars white Arctic wolves race to raise their adorable cubs before the cold returns. In Antarctica vast numbers of seabirds arrive on South Georgia joining the giant albatross and king penguins that have been there all winter. Elephant seals fight furious battles over females on a beach that contains the greatest mass of animals on the planet. Finally, the female Adelie penguins arrive, chased from the water by killer whales. Mating and chick rearing lie ahead of them.

Political music video I made. Here are the lyrics.
An Empty Chair
You say call us master
we won't be your slave
You are not our saviors
We will dig your grave
Sell us out for shiny baubles
entertained most look away
surfing over mass confusion
laughing as you ride your wave
Power is your addiction
we will not be slaves
Money the driving engine
We will dig your graves
All hail the politician
busy making our decisions
I say you best beware
or all will hail an empty chair
You say call us master
we are not your slaves
you are not our saviors
we will dig your grave

Every morning you join a mass exodus on the journey to your destination. As you travel, strangers become nothing more than mere objects that impede your progress. To strangers, you are perceived as nothing more than an objectified hurdle. The peculiar outcome of increasing population size is that we become progressively disconnected from the people around us. They transform from humans to objects.

Capital Spreads. http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/Spread-betting-AIM-stocks.html Are stocks with small market caps riskier to trade? Angus of Capital Spreads http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/ccount/click.php?id=3 comments. It can be more risky because sometimes we see if there is a mass liquidation of positions in small caps. It is not just spread betters or cfd traders trying to get out, it is other share investors. In particular if a stock is illiquid and there is a huge mass sell-off that can really push the market than it should probably. So trading illiquid stocks can be riskier.
In the United States, November 11th is set aside as Veterans' Day, a day to honor those who have served in the armed forces of the United States. Most countries have such a celebration, and well they should. Personally, I honor all veterans, including those who would have once been my enemies.
It was originally called Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War. And even then, there were honors to those who had served in that war. In in the early 1950's, we had been through one other (and bigger) war and we were in the Korean conflict, and so Armistice Day was re-named to Veterans' Day in honor of all veterans.
All veterans began their lives as ordinary people leading ordinary lives. For some, military service was considered a rite of passage on the way to adulthood. Others were given no choice, they were drafted. Some volunteered. Others chose the way they enterd because the alternative was to be drafted. There are no limits to the possibilities of their motivations. One rather well-known test pilot and fighter ace became an aviation cadet to avoid the duty roster. Another fighter ace who won the Medal of Honor joined to get off of the farm.
Once in uniform, there was yet another occasion for fate and fortune. Some were needed to fill jobs behind desks and in supply warehouses. Others were needed as leaders, and others needed to be led. Some earned more rank and medals than others, but in the final analysis that is not much of a distinction. After all, would the heroic fighter pilot or the decorated hero of the battle have accomplished what they did without support from the supply clerks, the cooks, the medics, and ever-so-many others? The Army once estimated that it takes fifty people in other jobs to support one soldier in the field.
And so, we take this occasion to give thanks for them all!
Blessed Be!

It's Samhain! The wheel of the year has completed another cycle, and so here we are.
We are at the end, and we are at the beginning! This is, after all, the Celtic New Year. We can look back at all that we've accomplished this year, and look forward to what we want to accomplish in the new year just beginning!
For some of us, just having made it through in some semblance of health can be looked upon as an achievment. And there's more, for those who look for it. Each Sabbat can be found in every other Sabbat until the year comes around to Samhain again, and there we find the greatest of Samhain's promises: fulfillment.
And, of course, the veil between the worlds is at its thinnest, and this means that now is the best opportunity to spend some time sharing with those we've known and loved who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They still love us and care about us, after all.
And for those of us new to such things, this is the perect time to become more aware. There is much hear that we can all make use of throughout the entire year.
And, we have our celebration.
Blessed Be!

References to the "The Star-Spangled Banner" the national anthem of the United States of America. The lyrics come from a poem written in 1814 by Francis Scott Key, a then 35-year-old amateur poet who wrote "Defence of Fort McHenry" after seeing the bombardment of Fort McHenry at Baltimore, Maryland, by Royal Navy ships using Tipu Sultan's design of rockets in Chesapeake Bay during the War of 1812. "And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air" A military tactic developed by Tippu Sultan and his father, Haidar Ali was the use of mass attacks with Rocket artillery brigades on infantry formations. Tippu Sultan wrote a military manual called Fathul Mujahidin in which 200 rocket men were prescribed to each Mysorean "cushoon" (brigade). Mysore had 16 to 24 cushoons of infantry. The areas of town where rockets and fireworks were manufactured were known as Taramandal Pet ("Galaxy Market"). The rocket men were trained to launch their rockets at an angle calculated from the diameter of the cylinder and the distance of the target. In addition, wheeled rocket launchers capable of launching five to ten rockets almost simultaneously were used in war. Rockets could be of various sizes, but usually consisted of a tube of soft hammered iron about 8 inches long and 1.5 to 3 inches diameter, closed at one end and strapped to a shaft of bamboo about 4 ft long. The iron tube acted as a combustion chamber and contained well packed black powder propellant. A rocket carrying about one pound of powder could travel almost 1,000 yards. In contrast, rockets in Europe not being iron cased, could not take large chamber pressures and as a consequence, were not capable of reaching distances anywhere near as great.
