Professor Jim Al-Khalili tells the electrifying story of our quest to master nature's most mysterious force - electricity. Until fairly recently, electricity was seen as a magical power, but it is now the lifeblood of the modern world and underpins every aspect of our technological advancements.
Without electricity, we would be lost. This series tells of dazzling leaps of imagination and extraordinary experiments - a story of maverick geniuses who used electricity to light our cities, to communicate across the seas and through the air, to create modern industry and to give us the digital revolution.
Electricity is not just something that creates heat and light, it connects the world through networks and broadcasting. After centuries of man's experiments with electricity, the final episode tells the story of how a new age of real understanding dawned - how we discovered electric fields and electromagnetic waves. Today we can hardly imagine life without electricity - it defines our era. As our understanding of it has increased so has our reliance upon it, and today we're on the brink of a new breakthrough, because if we can understand the secret of electrical superconductivity we could once again transform the world.

Just under 200 years ago scientists discovered something profound, that electricity is connected to another of nature's most fundamental forces - magnetism. In the second episode, Jim discovers how harnessing the link between magnetism and electricity would completely transform the world, allowing us to generate a seemingly limitless amount of electric power which we could utilise to drive machines, communicate across continents and light our homes. This is the story of how scientists and engineers unlocked the nature of electricity in an extraordinary century of innovation and invention.

Maverick actor-director Aamir Khan's Talaash seems to be doing well, but has failed to garner the box office numbers he had aspired for. However, he defended its collections stating that he was targeting a niche audience. He also speaks about the crucial element of surprise he had woven into it.
This post is being written as part of HedgeFundBlogger.com's Investment Securities Tool which analyzes the holdings of hedge fund managers. With all the commotion surrounding energy these days, it never hurts to track an energy focused hedge fund ran by none other than T. Boone Pickens. If you are unfamiliar with Pickens, he is an energy maverick and his fund returned 300% in 2005. He is a big advocate of Peak Oil Theory and runs an energy-centric hedge fund based in Dallas, Texas. Although he typically holds numerous positions in oil, he is also big on alternative energy (except ethanol) and has numerous holdings there as well. He most recently advocated a large natural gas position and has additionally made a big bet on wind energy.
Patrick: When I think of mavericks, I imagine you probably have handled some doozies to come up with that. Tell me something about what you’re doing. Cleve: A classic maverick is an entrepreneur. He or she is someone who has posed himself up by the beach, drives every morning, they’re the chief cook, bottle washer, they open the door to their business, they have hired all the employees. Often they’re the accountant, the HR personnel, the benefits personnel, they’re the managers, they’re the supervisors. Then one day the successful entrepreneurs grow up and their businesses grow up and they turn into successful businesses. As that entrepreneur – that maverick – learns how to grow his business then someday he learns to delegate. When he or she learns to delegate, then they create a robust business that I have often described it as it rises above the radar screen of litigation and all of a sudden makes them a nice target for people to want to shoot at. http://www.lrmlaw.com/ 214.922.8910 1601 Elm Street, Suite 4600 Dallas, TX 75201 Cleve Clinton is an Lawyer that works with Mavericks... folks that play big, plan big and get into big messes.

Malone finds them, confronts them, and takes care of (police) business

To some people
My love is somewhat alien;
When he comes up, they start subject-changing, and
In some states he's seen as some contagion -
In those zones, he stays subterranean;
Some love my love; they run parades for him:
Liberal citizens lead the way for him:
But the same time as these people are embracing him,
Whole faiths and nations seem ashamed of him:
They've tried banning him,
God-damning him,
Toe-tagging him,
Praying that he stayed in the cabinet,
But my love kicked in the panelling, and ran for it -
He's my love! Can't be trapping him in labyrinths! -
Maverick, my love is; he thwarts challenges;
The cleverest geneticists can't fathom him,
Priests can't defeat him with venomous rhetoric;
They'd better quit; my love's too competitive:
He's still here, despite the Taliban, Vatican,
And rap, ragga in their anger and arrogance,
Who call on my love with lit matches and paraffin -
Despite the fistfights and midnight batterings -
My love's still here and fiercely battling,
Because my love comes through anything
My love comes through anything
My love comes through anything
My love comes through anything
The Delhi Police has filed an FIR against Subramanian Swamy in connection with the said editorial. Mr Swamy has been charged with Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code for spreading enmity between communities. After Mr Swamy's editorial was published, a group of Harvard students had urged the University to cancel the courses that Mr Swamy teaches every summer at the university. Still, Swamy now says that the case against him is a manifestation of political vendetta. Consistency and credibility have never really been Subramaniam Swamy's virtues. He has accused Sonia Gandhi of smuggling antiques, Harkishan Singh Surjeet of corruption, former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Congress leader Arjun Singh of conspiring to derail the Rajiv Gandhi assassination trial, Vajpayee of getting drunk at an official function, and much more, without ever proving these charges. Maverick for many, evil incarnate for his detractors, Swamy is the epitome of opportunism in public life. Swamy believes in alliances of convenience than in everlasting friendships. It could be Sonia Gandhi one day and the RSS the next. All that matters to him, it seems, is his immediate objective. He was always out to get someone, bring down a government or finish off an enemy, even if that enemy was a potential friend. If we study his history it is undoubtedly clear that this man can never be trusted. He is a clear black mailer, highly opportunist and a political nuisance.
Subramanian Swamy the biggest political Fraud India has ever produced an indepth story. This maverick professor specializes in misleading and maligning images of well respected personalities. He has recently been trying his luck in demonising muslims of India. Has written an article which exposes his mental bankruptcy. It appeared in DNA owned by Subhash Chandra who also owns Zee News. The RSS background of the owner is a known fact. Swami's views are Islamophobic in the extreme and presumes that the people behind blasts were muslims and calls for violence against muslims. This dangerous Joker of Indian Politics is helping fuel the cycle of hatred which shouldn't be justified in the name of freedom of expression. The author should be charged under sedition for trying to create communal disharmony by making unproven and explicitly false statements.
