Italy travel: Florence, the Medici Palace. Approaching the Medici Palace from the street, and walking the grounds. Our Perillo Tours Familia is given a fantastic view of the city of Florence from the top of the Medici Palace grounds. Florence's Medici Palace, also known as the Pitti Palace, seemed most real of all the palatial estates we have visited. Not completely over-the-top gold leaf everywhere, not every blade of grass meticulously manicured. It seemed most real, like the Medici's could actually still be living there; perhaps they were away on business somewhere. It was therefore easier to get in the turn-of-the-eighteenth-century mood of the place. (You can view this video, and other travel videos in full-size and near-DVD quality, travel stills and more at www.jpmeyer.com).

I couldn't find the album art for FORCE OF NATURE (All capitalized) so I used something that would fit the name. A Green (My favorite color and also the color of life)Leaf, sounds about right, right? Well comment, rate, and subsribe.
Italy travel: Florence, shopping for Florentine Leather. Our Perillo Tours Familia walks around "just another piazza." Then, a demonstration on how 24 karat gold leaf is transferred on to leather, in one of the two shops that Perillo recommends. The other shop had a bonus: Aurelio, who looked liked he could be George Clooney's brother, was working there. Not kidding about how much less expensive Aurelio's leather jackets were as compared to the first store. Also very cool how Aurelio gave us a very personalized lesson on how to apply our initials in 24 karat gold on to the leather jackets we purchased!

Italy travel: Florence, shopping for Florentine Leather, continued. Aurelio, our "George Clooney's brother" leather salesperson, continues our lesson in the application of 24 karat gold. Here we see a gold leaf daisy applied next to Kathy's initials. Aurelio was excellent. Perillo Tours ought to recommend this smaller, more intimate and much less expensive shop over the one to which we were brought. (In all fairness, Tony did point out Aurelio's shop as we walked by, but it wasn't open yet.)

It’s that time of year again – time to re-do the old you. But resolutions attempted are oftentimes resolutions failed. Whether it’s to quit smoking, lose weight or even turn over a new leaf in the love department – sticking to those New Year’s resolutions isn’t always easy and has less to do with willpower than you think. In fact – a little change can go a long way.
“You need to set realistic goals for yourself so you don’t set yourself up for failure.” says Dianne Dewitt, lifestyle expert. “It’s also important to arm yourself with resources and information about your goals so you can create a strategy.”

In Part 2 of the refinishing series, I review some details concerning the table-top itself and take a look at the leaf expansion system, which is pretty unique. I also give some tips on how to determine what type of finish you might be up against, in order to determine the best way to remove it. And the last topic I cover is lead testing and safety. I hope you find this video useful and informative. As always, thanks for watching!!
Its woodworking with a twist!!
