A horse that survived a vicious attack is making medical headlines thanks to a pair of historic surgeries to save him. Last summer “Northstar,” an American Paint horse, was approached in a pasture in Pennsylvania, doused with a flammable liquid and, inexplicably, set on fire. “Really severe injury over his shoulders and withers and back, all the way down to his pelvis,” said Dr. Samuel Hurcombe, assistant professor of Equine Emergency and Critical Care at The Ohio State University’s Galbreath Equine Center. “These are large areas of 3rd degree burns, right down to the cartilage and bone.” To try and help heal those wounds, veterinarians are teaming up with burn specialists from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. “In human medicine, the team approach was founded in burn surgery,” said Dr. Larry Jones, Director of the Burn Center at Ohio State. “We took that same approach, and, using tools and techniques normally reserved for humans, applied them to this horse, in the hopes of making him better,” he said.

But many dissidents there see the country's free-speech situation as more of a nightmare. Chinese human rights activist Chen Guangcheng believes the situation for activists in China has only worsened since Xi has taken charge. Speaking with reporters on Monday at the Oslo Freedom Forum in Norway, he said international governments should step up pressure on Chinese leaders if they hope to encourage true change in China. A blind, self-taught lawyer, Chen made international headlines last year when he escaped from years of house arrest and sought asylum in the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. Since then, his family has been targeted through what appear to be revenge attacks. Meanwhile, Chen has continued his fight for openness and justice in China from his new home in the U.S., where he is a visiting scholar at New York University School of Law and is authoring a memoir scheduled for release this fall.Continue reading: http://www.theatlantic.com/china/archive/2013/05/chen-guangcheng-communism-has-always-been-a-scam/275799/ READ MORE ARTICLES: http://barcelona.thetylergroup.org/ http://thetylergroupeconomic.blogspot.com/2013/03/job-seekers-beware-new-phishing-scam.html http://www.wellsphere.com/healthy-living-article/the-tyler-group-services-nato-says-plans-in-place-to-defend-turkey/1775253

While President Obama has forcefully called out Congress for not passing gun control, the United States has been one of the leading countries blocking a global treaty to regulate the $70 billion international arms trade, torpedoing it last summer and dragging its feet on it this week at the United Nations. While Iran, Syria and North Korea are generating headlines for officially blocking the treaty, less attention has been paid to the role of the U.S. — acceding to pressure from outside groups including the National Rifle Association — in stalling its progress. We’re joined by Andrew Feinstein, author of "The Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade. Provided to you under Democracy NOW! creative commons license.
Is it possible the United States, a superpower without peer in history, might not be a key player as the world makes its way down the road to the Battle of Armageddon?
This is the central question explored by prophecy expert Mark Hitchcock in The Late Great United States, a fascinating behind-the-headlines look at numerous current events and how they relate to what the Bible says about the last days.
Americans are accustomed to seeing their country center stage as a world power, but as Hitchcock carefully details, this may not be the case in the final scene. Based on extensive research of the Bible and other sources, The Late Great United States provides compelling and often surprising answers to questions like these:
•Does the Bible say anything about America in the last days?
•How could the U.S. fit into God’s prophetic plan?
•Will America survive?
•Might the anti-Christ come from America?
•Could America’s addiction to oil be her undoing?
•Will America be destroyed by a nuclear attack?
•Could America fall from within as a result of moral corruption?
•Is America still a “blessed” nation?
•How should individual Christians respond to a world in chaos?
Regardless of America's final fate and the outcome of dire events at the end of the age, Hitchcock urges us to find our hope in a God who will not forsake us–no matter what cataclysms we experience on earth.

Spain will inject emergency capital into the country’s biggest ailing bank, Bankia, as it puts into place reforms to allow loss-making banks to receive eurozone bailout money. The move came after Bankia admitted losing more than €4bn (£3.168bn) in the first half year and as the conservative government of prime minister Mariano Rajoy delayed a decision on losses to be absorbed by small investors in bailed out banks.
