My second final gig of the month, this one kinda seemed to come out nowhere. Not sure exactly why they're breaking up just as they release their first album, but it's a shame anyway. So let's see them fill a venue one more time.

Fresh from last week's chaos at Start the Bus, the Pens find their reputation growing, and their live show is not watered down in response. I wear my sunglasses at night, just in case I get whipped by fairy lights.

In which they do some audience participation, only to find the audience reticient. Oh well, get the support band to help out instead. :p

In which we're hit like a jackhammer by angular bass and dissonant guitar sounds.

In which the melodiousness of the songs is belied by the sheer force with which they're delivered. Or maybe I shouldn't be right in front of the amp if my ears can't take the heat.

I originally came here to catch a complete set from one of the artists I only saw a snippet of at Stokes croft streetfest. Turns out I still get my wish, only of a different one. That's life for you.

I find it very odd that the Lunarians aren't bigger than they are, when they have both a great frontman, and music that's quite in tune with my personal tastes. You know what this needs? More promotion.

In which we have another looping device incorporated into the songs, and other interesting instruments. Of course I'm curious to see what kind of sounds come out.
