Bill opens up a vintage "black box" from a Delta airlines jetliner. He describes how the box withstands high temperatures and crash velocities because it made from Inconel: A superalloy steels that is used in furnaces and others extreme environments. The flight data recorder he shows is a Sundstrand FA-542 and was liked used on a DC-9 in the 1970s, although it could have been used as late as 1988 on a Boeing 727.

The RAF's World-Famous Aerobatic Team Gives a Special Performance at One of the World's Most Famous Aviation Events
Over 100,000 spectators are expected to descend this weekend to the Biggin Hill International Air Fair â one of the worldâs most famous aviation events.
Held each year at Biggin Hill Airport, Europeâs largest privately run air show features six hours of display flying on both days â with aircraft ranging from the historic and heroic, to modern, state-of-the-art machines. Some of the highlights at this yearâs event include a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, with Hurricane and Spitfire fighters; and the first display in years by the formidable Avro Vulcan V-bomber.
As well as these spectacular flying displays, at this yearâs event the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team â the Red Arrows â will be performing a special flypast in a V-formation with a Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400 at 2pm on the Sunday.

Foreshadowing a number of conspiracy theories in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks, the plot of the March 4, 2001 pilot episode of the series depicts a secret U.S. government agency plotting to hijack a domestic commercial Boeing 727 originally heading for Boston from New York City but diverted it to crash into the World Trade Center via remote control for the purpose of increasing the military defense budget and blaming the attack on foreign "tin-pot dictators" who are "begging to be smart-bombed."

This film attempts to reveal a glimmer of hope for our future and is the continuation of my previous film You Get What You Pay For. However, this film turns its focus towards the Prison Industrial Complex and describes how the corporation UNICOR is a prime example of a leading manufacturer that profits from prisons. UNICOR works with many agencies such as the Department of Defense by employing prisoners to produce wires for weapons guidance systems, kevlar vests, and helicopter parts. Many other companies profit from prisons as well such as McDonald's, Boeing, AT&T, and Victoria's Secret, (just to name a few.) These companies are essentially saving money by not having to pay retirement or vacation benefits to their incarcerated employees, and in turn making large profits from slave labor. Privatized correctional facilities are a new phenomenon that actually shape their profits around the amount of net new inmates they receive each year. It's no wonder that in the past two decades more people than ever ...

Cohan tells the amazing story of McNerney’s turnaround at the world’s leading aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, which had faced a series of tough problems in "You Can't Order Change."
Japan Airlines Flight 123 was a Japan Airlines domestic flight from Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) to Osaka International Airport (Itami). The Boeing 747-SR46 that made this route, registered JA8119, crashed into the ridge of Mount Takamagahara in Ueno, Gunma Prefecture, 100 kilometers from Tokyo, on Monday August 12, 1985. The crash site was on Osutaka Ridge (おすたかのおね, Osutaka-no-One?), near Mount Osutaka. All 15 crew members and 505 out of 509 passengers died, resulting in a total of 520 deaths. It remains the deadliest single-aircraft accident, and the second-deadliest aviation accident after the Tenerife disaster in history, only counting victims on board

5,000 People Witness First Public Flight Of Unique Vertical Lift Device
The Martin JetPack caused quite a stir at Oshkosh 2008... though to be accurate, the device was anything BUT a 'Jetpack.' Still... it proved to be a huge draw in an arena where there are no small number of things to attract one's attention. EAA officials report as many as 5,000 eager spectators were on hand for the Tuesday morning demo in AeroShell Square where the first public flight of the much-anticipated Martin Jetpack took place... and having been among that crowd ourselves, we think that number might even be slightly low.
In fact, organizers seemed a bit surprised with the large turnout, as the assembled throngs were slowly moved out of the way to make room for the demo flight at show center, forcing some against the barriers placed around AeroShell's other "big" attraction Tuesday, the Boeing Dreamlifter.
Any crowd discomfort was assuaged, however, when Harrison Martin took the "stage" wearing the somewhat bulky ...
